This 100% linen yarn is strong and smooth with a beautiful natural sheen.
Hand-dyed in small batches by Eco-Stitch in the UK with non-toxic, low-impact dyes, using certified European Flax from France. Vegan, eco-friendly and sustainable yarn.
The best quality linen comes from the long stems of the flax plants which are grown in the fields of Western Europe, in the coastal regions between Normandy in France and Amsterdam in Holland. It also has the label Masters of Linen, which is a guarantee of a 100% local and traceable European linen-to-yarn supply chain. This is where this linen fibre originated, before being spun into yarn, and then hand-dyed in the UK, using non-toxic, low impact dyes, or plant dyes.
The semi-solids are hand-dyed so that there are slight light/dark variations of the same shade. When knitted or crocheted, this produces a fabric with a gentle mottled look, like a water-colour effect.
We recommend that you first wash your finished garment/object separately by hand. There is a possibility that excess dye may still leech from the yarn for the first couple of washes, so you wouldn't want to be washing it with your whites...!
For subsequent washes, this 100% linen can be machine-washed using a non-bleach mild soap. Try to keep the spin speed no more than 1000 rpm. For best results, you can even dry the finished garment in the dryer for 15 minutes before lying flat to finish drying. With wearing your garment will become very soft with a beautiful lustrous silky effect. It can also be steam-ironed, which will help to soften it and enhance its natural sheen.
