Knitting Tech Editing Services
I’m Carmen and I qualified as a knitting tech editor after completing the Cool Wool Design course run by Carol Ibbetson.
I am a methodical knitter who is happy to tackle any new knitting technique and I haven’t yet found a pattern that defeated me. It may well be that I’ve only worked with knitting patterns which were tech edited and test knitted so that even adventurous knitters like myself can tackle them to make something they’re proud to be showing off out and about.
I realised my love for and experience with charts, spreadsheets, logic, maths, proofreading and formatting could be put to good use in helping knitting designers build a reputation for having accessible and accurate patterns.
Even the most experienced designers can overlook small details in their patterns. As a tech editor I will be your second pair of eyes, ensuring every element of your design is clear, consistent, and accurate so that knitters can bring your vision to life with a smile on their face.
So if you’re a knitting designer looking for a tech editor, get in touch. If you have a pattern ready to go, it helps if you send it along with all the questions you might have too.
I will answer your questions and if you’re happy to proceed we will agree a timeline, a way of working, a budget etc.
I would set aside a couple of weeks for tech editing to be complete to allow for a collaborative approach and for day breaks between reviews so that it can all be done with fresh eyes.
The work is complete when we’re both happy with it and it’s ready for test knitters although I do prefer seeing the pattern in its final version after test knitting for a final review.
